In what some are calling the closest thing to an American royal affair (since the Kennedy days, of course), Chelsea Clinton married her longtime beau Marc Mezvinsky in Rhinebeck, NY, in a star-studded ceremony.

Chelsea Clinton wore a white Vera Wang wedding dress (as we knew she would!) to exchange vows in an interfaith ceremony before a reported 400-500 guests, including Wang herself.

The strapless Vera Wang dress featured a diagonally draped bodice, ballgown skirt made out of raw edged laser-cut swirling silk organza, and a train in silk tulle, a spokesperson for the bridal brand told StyleList.

Clinton's tiny waist was cinched with a crystal-encrusted belt also by the designer, while her hair was pulled back and accented by a long traditional tulle veil. She complemented her gorgeous gown with a simple bouquet of white hydrangeas.

The bride's parents, former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, issued the following statement to The New York Times:

'Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends.

'We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.'

The 30-year-old bride and 32-year-old groom -- an investment banker whose parents served in Congress -- had both their ceremony and reception at the glitzy Astor Courts, a Beaux Arts-style estate built from 1902-1904 for John Jacob Astor IV, one of the most famous early American millionaires.

To suit the dressy event, female guests were seen wearing formal floor-length gowns, including the mother of the bride who looked prettier than we've ever seen her in an elegant raspberry-hued dress with puffy shoulders and a tied waist by Oscar de la Renta. Bill Clinton wore a slim black suit and narrow tie.
